1938年大阪府生まれ。樟蔭女子大学を卒業後、1962年の芦屋市展で段ボールにドリルで無数の穴を開けた作品により市長賞と15周年記念賞を受賞し、翌年に具体美術協会のメンバーに加わった。以後、回転板と樹脂を用いて制作した同心円のレリーフ作品を中心に、壁を覆うような連作で壮大な宇宙的空間を表現した。1970年には大阪万博の日本政府館ドームパターンも手掛け、解散後も創作活動を継続。国内外で再評価の高まる前衛女性作家である。

Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1938. After graduating from Shoin Women's University, she won the Mayor's Award and the 15th Anniversary Award at the 1962 Ashiya City Exhibition for her work in which she drilled countless holes into cardboard, and joined the Gutai Art Association the following year. Since then, she has expressed magnificent cosmic spaces in a series of wall-covering works, centered on concentric reliefs created using a rotating plate and resin. In 1970, she also created the dome pattern for the Japanese Government Pavilion at the Osaka Expo, and continued her creative activities even after the group disbanded. She is an avant-garde female artist who is receiving renewed recognition both at home and abroad.
