He first exhibited at the 8th Gutai Art Exhibition while still a student at Osaka Art School, and remained a member of the Gutai Art Association until its dissolution. His works are characterized by an "accumulation of symbols," and he developed a unique style in which shapes such as circles, crosses, and triangles are repeatedly arranged on the screen or in space. He is known for installations that involve the entire space, such as "Room of Symbols," which he exhibited at the 10th Gutai Exhibition, and in 1969, he staged a tragic incident in which one of his two-dimensional works was completely burned. Jiro Yoshihara commented that "while appearing cool at first glance, they contain a fierce energy within." He continues to receive high praise both at home and abroad.
